Campaigns
The Parents Jury is ‘your voice on food and activity'. We regularly run advocacy campaigns around children's food and physical activity issues, represent our members' collective voice in the media, and lobby governments, food manufacturers and key decision makers for improvements.
Members provide their views by responding to opinion polls, contributing to the online discussion forum and giving email feedback. We also provide tips and resources to help members become 'parent champions' and advocate for improvements to their children's school and local communities.
Proactive advocacy:
Throughout the year we run planned campaigns that include providing an online resource kit of information, advocacy suggestions and web links for parents to empower them to become champions. Campaigns also often include opinion polls, media activity, article distribution, letter writing and lobbying of key decision makers.
Reactive advocacy:
We also regularly respond to current issues in the media and political sphere that relate to children's food and physical activity environments and obesity prevention. We provide comment, issue media statements, write letters and lobby decision makers.
We also often ask parents to contribute their opinions. Look out for our Advocacy Action icon at the left for opportunities to contribute to a current activity.
