Media Training
We use Parents Jury members as a media spokespeople wherever possible, to lend real experiences to a news story and give parents a public voice on children's food an activity issues.
Contact us at enquiries@parentsjury.org.au with your name, town/state and contact details if you're interested in media training with The Parents Jury.
What does media training involve?
Half-day media training sessions are run in most capital cities by The Parents Jury staff and/or our supporting organisations (see bottom of page), according to demand. These informal sessions introduce you to the media industry, explain how The Parents Jury and journalists work together, and provide you with interview tips and practice role-plays.
What do media trained members do?
As a media trained member you may be occasionally called on to be the designated spokesperson for a media release, or in response to a current issue in the news.
When a media opportunity arises, Parents Jury staff will liaise between you and the journalist, and brief you to ensure that you are comfortable with the topic, have our key messages and background information on hand. NB: Members are never expected to arrange interviews themselves or talk to journalists 'out of the blue'.
